Muskies rank second in the nation in triples

In the most recent NCAA statistical report, the Lakeland College softball team ranked second in the nation in triples hit per game with 0.7.

The Muskies lead the Northern Athletics Conference in triples (21)and slugging percentage (.467) and are no stranger to being atop the nation in triples. In 2010, Lakeland led the nation in triples hit (35) and ranked second in triples hit per game.

Junior Heather Haeflinger has been the leader behind the Muskies hitting success. The Muskies' centerfielder has powered nine triples, and is fourth in the nation in triples and triples hit per game (0.3). The Shawano, Wis., native also leads the NAC in triples.

Sophomore Sammy Rieder ranks second in the NAC in triples (five) and ranks 31st in the nation in triples.

The Muskies, who currently sit in fourth place in the NAC, hope to secure a spot in their sixth straight NAC Tournament on May 3-5.
