Marcus McCauley(Fr.-Hillpoint, Wis.), Eddie Terres (Fr.-Escanaba, Mich.) and Jeremy Kroeger (So.-Villa Park, Ill.) all scored individual wins for Lakeland College, but the University of Wisconsin-Platteville won the war in a wrestling dual between the two teams Saturday at the Wehr Center Fieldhouse.
The Pioneers defeated the Muskies 28-15, benefitting from two forfeits and winning five matches in a closely contested competition. Lakeland dropped to 4-3 this season in dual meets.
Terres posted the most convincing with for the Muskies, recording a 6-0 decision over LaQuan Hightower at 184 lbs. Kroeger also defeated Abraham Graziano by a 5-2 score at 197 lbs., while McCauley added a 4-3 decision over Jose Collado at 141 lbs.
Lakeland lost a close decision at 174 lbs., where Wesley Colton (Fr.-Machesney Park, Ill.) was defeated 3-1 by Austin Holland. Joel Frias (Sr.-Oak Lawn, Ill.) also was defeated 5-0 at 149 lbs. by Aaron Bonnell.
UW-Platteville picked up a pair of wins on the day, also defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering 33-16 in the first dual of the day.
The Muskies will be competing in the Wheaton College Invitational in Wheaton, Ill., this weekend, a two-day invite that begins Friday and continues Saturday.
