Falcons top Muskies in tough dual meet

MEQUON, Wis. - Eduardo Orihuela (So.-Menominee, Mich.), Marcus McCauley (Fr.-Hillpoint, Wis.) and Andy Crivellone (So.-Oak Lawn, Ill.) all posted wins but the Lakeland College wrestling team lost to Concordia University Wisconsin 32-13 in a Northern Wrestling Association dual match Thursday night at Buuck Fieldhouse.

The Falcons won seven out of ten matches to improve to 2-0 in NWA duals this season, while the Muskies dropped to 2-1 within the conference. Lakeland also is now 5-4 overall in duals this season.

The match started at 174 lbs. and and the Muskies fell behind 9-0 with a pair of close losses. Eddie Terres (Fr.-Escanaba, Mich.) lost 6-5 in double overtime to John Hinson at 184 lbs., and Jeremy Kroeger (So.-Villa Park, Ill.) followed with an 8-5 loss to Jake Reuteler at 197 lbs.

Crivellone got Lakeland on the board with a 4-1 win over Seth Kilkelly at 285 lbs., and Orihuela followed shortly after with an 11-2 major decision over Kevin Amborcio at 133 lbs. McCauley followed right after with a pin, defeating Allen Fenner in 1:56 to make the score 14-13.

The Falcons would win the final three matches of the night. Pins at 149 lbs. and 157 lbs. and a forfeit win at 165 lbs. gave Concordia a run of 18 straight points to close out.

Lakeland will compete in the NWA Tournament next Saturday, Feb. 23, at Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, with matches scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
