DE PERE - The University of Wisconsin-River Falls shot 52.8% from the field and the Lakeland College women's basketball team dropped to 0-2 with a 71-49 loss Saturday afternoon in the consoloation game of the St. Norbert Baylake Bank Tip-Off Tournament.
The Falcons (1-1 overall) led from start to finish, jumping out to an 11-0 lead and dominating throughout. The Muskies never were able to generate the offense to threaten, shooting just 26.9% from the field, making 14 of 52 shots.
Becky Mayo (Sr.-Gladstone, Mich.) led Lakeland with 11 points and five rebounds, while Leah Eisner (Jr.-Stevens Point, Wis.) added 10 points and three blocked shots. The Muskies trailed 36-18 at halftime and only got as close as 17 points in the second half, when a 10-0 run cut the score to 53-36 with 7:29 left in the game.
Taylor Jandrin (Jr.-Forestville, Wis.) added seven points and Natalie Neitzel (Fr.-Theresa, Wis.) and Dana Henrichs (Sr.-Fall Creek, Wis.) both chipped in six points each.
Tess Lueders scored 21 points to lead the Falcons, hitting eight of 13 shots. Brittany Gregorich added 14 points. UWRF made 28 of 53 shots for the game and also out-rebounded the Muskies 39-30.
The Muskies return to action next Saturday when they open Northern Athletics Conference play against Milwaukee School of Engineering at Woltzen Gymnasium at 2 p.m.
