The Lakeland College women's basketball team shot 25.5% from the field and went cold in the second half in a 60-36 to Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday afternoon at Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies scored just five points in the final 11 1/2 minutes in losing for a second time this season to the Falcons. Lakeland dropped to 4-6 overall and 4-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference, while Concordia is now 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the NAC.
The Muskies shot just 12-of-47 for the game, never able to counter the Falcons aggressive defense. Lakeland also was just 9-of-16 from the free throw line (56.3%) and was out-rebounded 41-32.
Concordia also struggled offensively until Lakeland went cold late. Leading just 33-31 after a short jumper by Leah Eisner (Jr.-Stevens Point, Wis.) with 11:52 left in the game, the Falcons would score on 11 of their next 13 trips down the court. In all Concordia would outscore the Muskies 27-5 the rest of the way, holding Lakeland to just five free throws the rest of the way.
The Muskies got off to a good start, holding the Falcons scoreless the first 5:41 of the game and taking an early 8-0 lead. Lakeland scored just nine points the rest of the half, though, and trailed 24-17 at halftime.
Eisner scored 12 points to finish as the lone Muskie in double figures scoring. Becky Mayo (Sr.-Gladstone, Mich.) added seven points and 12 rebounds.
Camille Parsons led the Falcons with 19 points, shooting 8-of-12 from the field. Katie Luethe added 11 poitns and 15 rebounds and Brittany Zietlow totaled seven points, seven rebounds and eight assists.
Lakeland returns to action Thursday when it faces John Carroll (Ohio) University at 5:30 p.m. as part of the JustAGame Christmas Shootout at JustAGame Fieldhouse in the Wisconsin Dells.
