Lakeland women's tennis team ties for 10th in NAC preseason poll

WAUKESHA - The Lakeland College women's tennis team finish in a tie with Concordia University Chicago for 10th place in the 2012 Northern Athletic Conference preseason poll of league coaches released by the conference Monday.

The Muskies and Cougars both received 39 points in the poll to tie for 10th among the conference's 12 teams. Defending NAC Tournament champion Wisconsin Lutheran College was named the conference favorites, finishing first in the poll with 141 points and nine of 12 first-place votes.

Edgewood (Wis.) University and Concordia University Wisconsin both tied Wisconsin Lutheran for the NAC regular season title last year, and the two schools came in second and third, respectively, in the poll. Edgewood finished second with 129 points and two first-place votes, while Concordia Wisconsin was right behind with 126 points and the final first-place vote.

Lakeland finished 3-8 in the NAC last season to place 10th in the team standings. The Muskies open their 2012 season this weekend, hosting Rockford (Ill.) College and Edgewood on Saturday at The Sports Core in Kohler.
