Lakeland College football player Erik Lucht (Jr.-Greenleaf, Wis.) and women's volleyball player Katie Freitag (Jr.-Kiel, Wis.) are this week's Muskie of the Week award winners.
Lucht receives the honor after a big game in the Muskies' 31-7 Homecoming win over Rockford (Ill.) College on Saturday. In just his second game as a starter, the linebacker made a career high 10 tackles (six solo) in the game, helping Lakeland hold the Regents to 206 yards of total offense in the game. Lakeland picked up its first win of the season, improving to 1-4 overall (1-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference). For the season Lucht is third on the team in tackles with 31 tackles (19 solo), including three tackles for loss.
Freitag is honored after helping the Lakeland women's volleyball team to a 2-1 record last week. The junior outside hitter had 11 kills in a four-set win over a strong Maranatha Baptist Bible College team and added 10 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Concordia University Chicago on Saturday. She finished the week with 24 kills and added four service aces against Dominican (Ill.) University. Freitag is currently second on the team with 177 kills and leads the Muskies with 53 blocks (22 solo). Lakeland is currently 14-9 overall and 4-5 in NAC play with three regular season matches left.
