The Lakeland College football team closes out the 2012 season at home on Saturday when it hosts Benedictine (Ill.) University in a Northern Athletics Conference game at noon at Taylor Field.
Twelve seniors will be honored before the game on Senior Day before playing their final games. Lakeland comes in with a 2-7 overall mark and is 2-4 in the NAC, while Benedictine is 4-5 overall and also 2-4 in conference. The Muskies lost to unbeaten Concordia University Chicago 37-3 last week, while Benedictine is coming off a 34-6 win over Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
Lakeland holds a 26-18 lead in the all-time series that dates back to when Lakeland was known as Mission House College and Benedictine was known as St. Procopius College. Benedictine won last year's meeting 28-19 despite the Muskies outgaining the Eagles 365-306 and quarterback Dylan Van Straten (Jr.-Shiocton, Wis.) rushing for 156 yards and a touchdown.
