Lakeland College's Joey Burris (So.-Kiel, Wis.) has been named the Northern Athletics Conference's first Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the 2012-13 season.

Burris received the award after scoring a career-high 36 points in the Muskies' 113-112 triple-overtime win over Lake Forest (Ill.) College Friday night. In his first collegiate start, the 6-3 guard made 13 of 22 field goals, including hitting five of 10 three-point tries, and also added six rebounds and four assists while playing 53 minutes in the marathon game.

Burris more than tripled his previous career high of 10 points set last year as a freshman. His performance also came in front of a big home crowd on Kiel Community Night for Lakeland's season opener. He averaged 4.3 points per game and 12.8 minutes per game as a freshman.

The Muskies return to the court Tuesday night when they travel to face Beloit College on the road in Beloit at 7 p.m.
