Lakeland men's volleyball team gets first win of season

Brett Kaczmarek (Jr.-Kenosha, Wis.) and Alec Redlich (So.-Wauwatosa, Wis.) combined for 27 kills and the Lakeland College men's volleyball team picked up its first win of the season, defeated UW-Stout in four sets Friday night on Hawaiian Night at the Woltzen Gymnasium.

Kaczmarek finished with 14 kills and Redlich added 13 kills as the Muskies prevailed 23-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-21 and evened their record at 1-1 on the season. Lakeland also is now 1-1 in Wisconsin Volleyball Conference play, with the win over the Blue Devils following a five-set loss to Marquette in their season opener on Tuesday.

The Muskies lost the first set before bouncing back to win the final three sets. Lakeland also had the first set under control as well, leading 22-17 late before Stout scored eight of the final nine points, including six straight points to finish the set off.

Cole Aiazzi (So.-Yerington, Nev.) led Lakeland with 14 digs and Dayton Erickson (So.-Trevor, Wis.) led the team with 38 assists. Redlich also added five of the team's eight service aces.

Lakeland is in action this weekend, hosting WVC teams Saturday and Sunday at Woltzen Gymnasium. The Muskies will play twice each day, starting with another meeting against Stout tomorrow at 1 p.m.
