Athletics - posted on 11/29/2012

Lakeland College senior linebacker Bruce Romagnoli (Iron Mountain, Mich.) has been selected to play in the upcoming D3 Football Senior Classic all-star game on Friday, Dec. 7, in Salem, Va.

Romagnoli will be a member of the North team in the game to be held Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center. Salem also is the host for the NCAA Division III National Championship game, which will be held Saturday, Dec. 8.

Romagnoli is the second Lakeland player in two years to be selected to a postseason all-star game. Last year Tony Faller competed in the All American Bowl at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn., a postseason all-star game for players in NCAA divisions I-AA, II and III as well as NAIA and junior college players.

Romagnoli concluded his Muskie career this season by being named a First Team All-Northern Athletics Conference linebacker for the third consecutive season. This season he finished with 76 tackles, 11 1/2 tackles for loss and 4 1/2 sacks, leading the Muskie defense in all three categories. He finished fourth in the NAC in tackles for loss, and also added three passes defensed, including one interception.

Romagnoli completed his terrific career as a three-year starter with 252 tackles. Included in that total were 34 tackles for loss, including 8 1/2 sacks, as well as seven passes defensed, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
