Athletics - posted on 12/3/2012

Lakeland College forward Justin Ward (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) is the third consecutive Muskie men's basketball player to receive the Northern Athletics Conference Player of the Week honor.

Ward makes the Muskies three-for-three this season in winning the award and is the third different student-athlete to receive the award. Joey Burris (So.-Kiel, Wis.) won the NAC's first weekly award of the season two weeks ago after scoring a career-high 36 points in the Muskies' triple-overtime season-opening win over Lake Forest (Ill.) College, and Jake Schwarz (Sr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) received the honor after scoring 30 points in leading Lakeland to a 92-80 win over Beloit College last Tuesday.

Ward scored a season-high 32 points Saturday in Lakeland's 87-80 win over Benedictine (Ill.) University to improve to 4-0 this season. He made 15 of 22 shots from the field and added six rebounds and two steals as the Muskies also moved to 2-0 in NAC play.

Including a win Tuesday against Edgewood College, Ward finished the week averaging 22 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He also shot 61.8% from the field.

For the season Ward is averaging 20 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists per game through four games. He is shooting 50.0% from the field and 38.5% from the three-point line.

The Muskies return to the court Wednesday night to face Concordia University Wisconsin at 7 p.m. at Woltzen Gymnasium. Live video and live statistics of the game will be available online at http://www.lakeland.edu/muskieslive.
