After trailing by one at the half the Lakeland Muskies, 4-3 overall 2-0 Lake Michigan Conference, rebounded to defeat the preseason LMC favorite Edgewood College Eagles 46-41 in Madison on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Beth Porter hit a free throw with 4:16 remaining to give Lakeland a nine point lead, 44-35 and the Muskies would hold on to their lead the remainder of the game.
Senior Kristi Thill led the team with 22 points, nine rebounds (three offensive, six defensive), four assists and one steal. Porter was second in scoring with 10 points.
The Muskies shot 37 percent for the game, while holding the Eagles to just 25 percent shooting from the floor.
Lakeland will host Alverno College on Thursday night with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
