Lakeland College men's basketball players Jake Schwarz (Sr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) and Justin Ward (Jr.-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.) are this week's Muskies of the Week award winners.
Schwarz and Ward both reached major career milestones on Saturday in Lakeland's 77-65 win over Rockford (Ill.) College. Schwarz set the school's all-time men's basketball career scoring record, surpassing John Koslowski's record of 2,008 points from 1980-84 with a three-pointer early in the second half. Just prior to that, Ward became the 39th player in Muskie men's basketball men's basketball history to reach 1,000 points with a three-pointer of his own.
The duo led Lakeland to the win over Rockford, with both scoring 22 points. Ward also captured 13 rebounds and Schwarz added nine boards in the game. Schwarz, Ward and the rest of the Muskies have a 16-4 overall record through 20 games and with a 9-2 conference record lead the Northern Athletics Conference North Division.
