Schwarz named to D3hoops.com All-Midwest Region team

Lakeland College's Jake Schwarz (Sr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) has been named a Third Team All-Midwest Region men's basketball pick by the D3hoops.com website.

Schwarz was named a third team all-region pick for the second consecutive year and received all-region honors from the website for the third time. He also was named First Team All-Midwest Region as a sophomore in 2009-10.

Schwarz was the Northern Athletics Conference Player of the Year this season and is the only NAC player to make the regional team. Derek Raridon of North Central (Ill.) College was named the region's Player of the Year, while Michael Schauer of Wheaton (Ill.) College is the regional Coach of the Year.

Schwarz averaged 22.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game this year, shooting 48.0% from the field, 39.2% from three-point range and 75.7% from the free throw stripe. He led the NAC in scoring, was second in the conference in rebounding and three-point field goals per game (2.6), and also finished in the top 15 in the conference in field goal percentage, three-point percentage, free throw percentage and steals per game (1.4). He also currently ranks 12th nationally in NCAA Division III in scoring average this season.

Schwarz finished his Muskie career this season by setting the Lakeland men's basketball all-time scoring record with 2,199 points. He also completed his career as the NAC leader in points, rebounds, field goals made and free throws made.
