Track Coach
David Brooks
Head Coach
David Brooks enters his second season as the head men's and
women's track coach with hopes of expanding Lakeland's fledgeling
program. He is also serving his second year as a graduate assistant
coach for the Muskies' men's soccer team.
A native of Mukwonago, Brooks is no stranger
to the world of competitive sports, as he was a major fixture
on the track team and played goalie for the men's soccer team
at Mukwonago High School all four years.
As a four-year varsity participant and two-year
captain for the track team, Brooks primarily competed in the
400 meter dash, while also running races at the 200 and 800
meter distances. During his first year with the team, he was
the only freshman on the squad's 4x400 meter relay team that
went on to capture fourth place at the state meet. Although
he suffered a hamstring injury at the regional meet his sophomore
year, Brooks returned to the state meet his junior year. He
claimed ninth place with the 4x800 meter relay team, and returned
once again his senior year to compete with the 4x200 meter relay
team. During his career, he earned multiple first-place finishes
and received all-conference accolades for his efforts in the
400, 4x800 and 4x400 meter events.
Although Brooks was heavily recruited by
UW-La Crosse for track, he chose to become involved with the
lacrosse team instead. He captained and coached the squad for
two years before making the transition to solely coaching. He
also shouldered the responsibilities of recruiting and fundraising
for the program.
Brooks graduated from UW-La Crosse with a Bachelor’s Degree
in Spanish in 2005. He is currently working towards earning
his masters of education and teaching certification in secondary
education for Spanish at Lakeland.
