Steve Plucinski named to the Northwoods League All-Star Game

Steve Plucinski, a pitcher from Mundelein, Ill., who recently completed his junior year at Lakeland, was named to the Northwoods League All-Star Game for the second straight year this summer..

Plucinski And Schmitt Named To Midwest All-Region Baseball Teams
June 2, 2004
Junior pitcher Steve Plucinski and sophomore outfielder Tyler Schmitt were both recently named to Midwest All-Region teams. Plucinski made the Second Team for the second consecutive year while Schmitt earned Third Team honors. This is the third straight year Plucinski was named All-Region after making the First Team as a freshman when he also was a Third Team All-American.

Ten Earn Baseball LMC Awards; Hendricks Rookie Of Year; Weber Coach Of Year

The Lake Michigan Conference baseball coaches had their end of season meeting last evening, and voted on the ALL-Lake Michigan Conference awards for the 2004 season. Awards were based on conference statistics only. Lakeland had 10 players receive awards, including four First Team selections, four Honorable Mention selections, two All-Rookie Team selections and the Rookie and Coach of the Year.

Lakeland Baseball Wins 4th Straight Outright LMC Championship
May 1, 2004
The Lakeland College Baseball Team continued their dominance of the Lake Michigan Conference by winning their fourth straight outright conference title. The four consecutive titles double the total number of previous championships won in the history of the program dating back about 60 years.

Plucinski Named Pitcher Of The Week For Second Straight Week
April 27, 2004
Steve Plucinski, a junior right-handed pitcher from Mundelein, IL (Mundelein High School) was named the Lake Michigan Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 19th to the 25th. It was the second straight week Plucinski has earned the honor. Plucinski threw a 9-inning no-hitter versus MSOE last Thursday. In the game, he struck out 13 and walked only 3 in the 1-0 victory. The Muskies are 20-15 overall and 14-1 in the LMC, clinching a share of their fourth consecutive LMC title.


Lakeland Baseball Holds 6th Spot In ABCA Regional Poll
April 26, 2004

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released its semi-weekly poll today and again, two Lake Michigan Conference teams were ranked in the Midwest Region Poll. Lakeland College (18-15 record at time of voting-now 20-15) and Edgewood College (23-14 record at time voting - now 24-15) were ranked No. 6 and No. 8, respectively. Full story...

Plucinski Throws Fourth No-Hitter In School History
April 22, 2004
Junior pitcher Steve Plucinski threw just the fourth no-hitter in Lakeland Baseball history in a 1-0 victory over visiting MSOE Thursday afternoon in Sheboygan. Plucinski struck out 13, including five of the last six batters, and walked three in the complete game effort.Full story...

Muskie Baseball Returns From Florida 4-6; Equals Second Best Start Ever

The Lakeland College Baseball Team returned from Port Charlotte, Florida with a 4-6 record and a ton of experience for their young team. The record equals the second best start in school history. Two times the Muskies have come back at exactly .500, but have never returned with a record above the .500 mark.

Weber Chosen To Speak At National Baseball Convention

Lakeland College Baseball Coach John Weber has been given a rare honor to speak at the American Baseball Coaches Association Convention in San Antonio in the first week of January. Weber is one of only 3 coaches to have been selected from 350 Division III head coaches from across the country. He will be making his presentation in front of an audience of about 4,000 college, high school, professional and youth coaches. Full story...

When Hank Semph, General Manager of the Howards Grove Athletic Club Baseball Team needs a player, he knows where to turn. All he has to do is pick up the phone and contact Lakeland Baseball Coach John Weber to find out who's available.
