Lakeland Baseball Holds 6th Spot In ABCA Regional Poll

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) released its semi-weekly poll today and again, two Lake Michigan Conference teams were ranked in the Midwest Region Poll. Lakeland College (18-15 record at time of voting-now 20-15) and Edgewood College (23-14 record at time voting - now 24-15) were ranked No. 6 and No. 8, respectively.

The Muskies of Lakeland College clinched a share of their fourth consecutive LMC title with a 14-1 LMC record (20-15 overall). The Muskies are looking for their third straight trip to the NCAA Division III tournament. In 2002, Lakeland finished 5th at the Division III College World Series.

The Eagles of Edgewood College currently hold the second spot in the LMC standings with a 13-5 record in the LMC and a 24-15 overall mark. Edgewood has set a school record for wins in a season (formerly 22).

The rest of the Midwest Region Poll is a follows: 1. (tie) St. Thomas (MN) (24-4 record at time of ranking), 1. (tie) UW-Whitewater, 3. UW-Oshkosh, 4. Concordia-Moorhead (19-10), 5. Ripon (14-9), 6. Lakeland (18-15), 7. UW-Stevens Point, and 8. Edgewood (23-14). The next poll will be released on May 9, 2004.
