Baseball to Host Annual Alumni Game
Sept. 18, 2003

The Lakeland College Baseball Team will host their annual Alumni Baseball Game on Saturday, October 4th at 12pm. The game is usually played on Homecoming Saturday but cannot be played on that date this year due to the lateness of Homecoming (Oct. 18th).

Last year nearly 30 alumni returned to compete against the current Muskies. The current Muskies defeated the alumni 10-9 in a classic ballgame. The Muskies stormed out to a 10-0 lead before the Alumni scored 9 runs in one inning. But it was too little too late as the Muskies won for the fourth straight year.

Highlights of the game for the alumni included Mark Lesnik (class of 1997) getting his first-ever Alumni Game hit after trying for over six years and breaking a 0 for 23 streak. Lesnik went on to get another hit later in the game. Another highlight included an opposite field homerun by Brad Bartelt (class of 2000) that nearly hit the scoreboard. The last time the alumni won was in the fall of 1998.

The Muskies finished 27-16 in 2002, making their second straight NCAA tournament and winning their third straight Lake Michigan Conference Championship.
