A final day of shopping, dining ... and skydiving?

Our final day in Prague is coming to a close. In a few hours, we'll be headed for the airport en route to London, Chicago and, eventually, Lakeland College. I suspect we're all looking a bit forward to getting back home and settling into our regular routines, but as freshman Justin Ward posted as his Facebook status today, “Last day in Prague … sad, sad day!”

Everyone took advantage of this being a free day and did a little of everything. There was a lot of shopping going on, as the student-athletes and their families scurried around Old Town and other places scooping up gifts for family and friends back home. Some of you people back home are going to be getting some pretty cool stuff! Several of the players made their way to a Nike/adidas store, while many of their parents checked out an amazing farmer's market right outside the subway stop near our hotel. I can tell you the fresh cherries were very tasty! The amount and types of fresh sausages and meats, seafood, cheese, fruit and vegetables at the market was wonderful. Too bad we couldn't get some of these taste treats through customs. Several parents and a couple of the student-athletes took a cruise of the Vltava River. It provided a unique view of the city, plus it was a gorgeous day to get some sun. The evening was filled with dinner and buying those last-minute treasures before getting everything packed for an early-morning departure.

Oh, one person did something pretty amazing! Junior Eric Vandivier (Mt. Prospect, Ill.) went skydiving with his cousin, Denise, who came along for the trip with Eric's mother. Based on this photo, looks like Eric had a pretty exhilarating experience! You can listen to him share his thoughts about his debut jump in today's video.
