Nickel Named To NABC All-District
Second Team
April 4, 2004
Lakeland College's Cory Nickel was recently named to the National Association
of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District Team. The senior guard was one
of five student-athletes on the Midwest Region's Second Team; six were
named to the First Team. Nickel, the LMC's Player of the Year, averaged
19.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 4.3 apg, and 1.9 spg in 29 games. He led the Muskies
(16-13) to the LMC Tournament Championship and a berth to the NCAA Division
III Tournament. The NABC All-District Teams are selected and voted on
by member coaches of the NABC.
Men's Basketball Drops First Round

The Lakeland College Men's Basketball Team picked the wrong night to have
an off shooting night as they fell 86-51 to host Lawrence University in
the first round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday night in Appleton. The
loss ended the Muskies season at 16-13 while the Vikings improved to 22-4
and advanced to a second round game against Buena Vista this Saturday

Men's And Women's Basketball Teams Hit The Road For
NCAA Tournament
Feb. 29, 2004
The Lakeland mens and womens basketball teams will hit the
road this week to open play in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The Lakeland women (22-5) get things started Wednesday
night when they travel to Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., just
south of St. Paul.
The Lakeland men (16-12) get a short trip to Appleton
Thursday night to meet Lawrence University (21-4).
Times for both games will be at 7pm.
If either Lakeland team would win, they would advance
to the second round and a game against Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa,
on Saturday. Storm Lake is in northwestern Iowa.Full

Double Dip: Men Complete Super Saturday By Earning
Program's First NCAA Bid

The Lakeland College Men's Basketball Team earned their first-ever NCAA
bid with a 60-54 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran Saturday night in Sheboygan
to win the Lake Michigan Conference Tournament and an automatic NCAA Tournament
birth. The win completed a super day for Muskie athletics as the women's
basketball team earned an NCAA bid earlier in the day with a win over

With Wisconsin Lutheran's upset of number one seed Concordia University
on Sunday, the Lake Michigan Conference Tournament Final will not see
the top seed win the tournament for an amazing fifth straight year. Although
it hurt the previous two seasons when Lakeland won the regular season,
the curse of the number one seed is a blessing for the Muskies this year.

third time this season. Nickel led the Muskies in scoring and assists

Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The First Team selection

The Lakeland College Men's Basketball Team used a balanced scoring
attack to defeat the Raiders of MSOE by a score of 85-72. The win moves
the Muskies to 13-12 overall and 8-4 in the Lake Michigan Conference while
the Raiders dropped to 9-16 overall and 5-7 in the LMC. The win also clinches
the 3rd seed for the conference tournament coming up this weekend, while
