Lakeland Men Bitten By Second Half Chill
Feb. 10, 2004
Even a scoreboard glitch in the last minute of the game couldn't save the Lakeland
College Men's Basketball Team from this loss. Shooting only 36.7% in the second
half, the Muskies (11-12, 6-4) fell to Marian College (4-17, 2-9), 65-73.
Cory Nickel scored a game-high 24 points for the Muskies. Ryan Hiir pitched in with 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Nick Zeck scored 10 points and grabbed 8 boards.
For the Sabres, Joe VandeBerg led the way with 16 points with David Whitenack sinking 11.
The Muskies led at the half, 36-29, but could not take advantage of many opportunities in the second half.
A scoreboard malfunction delayed the game for several minutes in the final minute of the game after loud clicking and flashing of the lights seemed to disrupt Marian's free-throw shooting.
The Muskies' next game will be a Valentine's Day match at Maranatha Baptist on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
