Dec. 9, 2003

The Lakeland College Muskies Men's Basketball Team suffered a devastating 71-48 defeat to Edgewood College Tuesday night in Madison. The loss dropped Lakeland to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the Lake Michigan Conference, while the Eagles improved to 3-3 and 1-0.

The Muskies struggled from the floor at the infamous Edgedome, the home court for the Eagles. Lakeland connected on just 16 of 50 shots and only 6 of 23 three-point attempts, while Edgewood knocked down an impressive 8 of 18 treys, but were only 20 of 52 overall.

Both teams handled the ball well as the Muskies committed just 9 turnovers and the Eagles only 3. The 9 turnovers for the Muskies was a vast improvement over the 31 they had in their last game verses Concordia. Edgewood also won the rebounding battle 39-29.

Lakeland only trailed 27-22 at the half but was outscored 44-26 in the second half for the difference. Cory Nickel led Lakeland with 15 points and 8 rebounds but was just 4 of 14 from the floor. He was the only Muskie in double figures. Four Edgewood players reached double digits, led by Randy Kolinske with 19 points.

Lakeland's next game is this Friday when they host Northland Baptist Bible College at 7pm.
