Muskies Top Sharp-Shooting Rockford College
Dec. 20, 2003
The Lakeland College Men's Basketball Team marked the return of Preseason Conference
Player of the Year, Ricky Davis, in style Saturday evening with an impressive
88-78 victory over Rockford College.
Davis scored 16 points and retrieved six rebounds in his first game back from his foot injury. Cory Nickel led all scorers with 20 for the Muskies, and Nick Zeck had a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards.
The Muskies had a great game overall, shooting 49 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the free throw line to sink the Regents, who shot 14 for 35 from three point range. Lakeland also out-rebounded Rockford, 40-23.
The Regents had four players score in double digits but were stopped from penetrating inside for much of the game by the Muskies' defense.
Lakeland's next game will be against Siena Heights in the first round of the Clarke College Holiday Tournament in Dubuque, Iowa. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
