Lakeland College Soccer Coaches
David Madsen
Head Coach
David Madsen enters his second year as men's and women's soccer
coach at Lakeland.
In his first season with the Muskies he led the women's team
to a 10-8-1 overall record, 7-3-1 in the Northern Athletics
Conference, for a fifth-place finish on the season. The men's
team experienced some growing pains in 2006, finishing 3-12-1
overall and 2-6-1 in the NAC.
A standout goalkeeper and four-year starter for UW-Whitewater,
Madsen helped lead UWW to three NCAA tournament appearances in
1999, 2001 and 2002. He was also an All-Region performer in 2002
and compiled a career goals against average of 0.92 in 59 games.
After graduating from Whitewater in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in business,
Madsen stayed connected to his alma mater by serving as an assistant coach for the
men's and women's soccer programs for three seasons, while also pursuing his master's degree.
In high school Madsen was an all-conference performer at Brookfield East (Wis.) High School,
helping lead the 1997 team to a WIAA Division I state championship. He also played for Milwaukee
Kickers Nationals/F.C. Milwaukee and was part of teams that won five straight club state championships.
Currently, Madsen plays competitively with the Milwaukee Kickers Majors team. He earned his master's
degree in curriculum and instruction in 2005, is a member of the NSCAA and currently holds his National
"D" License from the USSF.

He also spent time studying abroad in Buenos Aires,
Argentina, in 2004 where he gained further goalkeeping experience playing
for a competitive futsol league, which is a sport similar to soccer.
Brooks was also involved with the lacrosse team at UW-La Crosse,
where he captained and coached the squad for two years before making the transition
to solely coaching. He also shouldered the responsibilities of recruiting and fundraising

currently working towards his master's of education and teaching
certification in secondary education for Spanish.
