Muachie Xiong To Play Soccer At Lakeland College
May 12, 2004

Sheboygan, WI- Lakeland College Head Men's Soccer Coach Marc Colwell announced that Muachie Xiong from Green Bay, Wisconsin will play soccer at Lakeland College in the upcoming 2004 soccer season.

Xiong played sweeper as a member of the Ashwaubenon High School team coached by Bob Rickards. Ashwaubenon finished with a respectable 6-4-1 record in the tough Bay Conference, but struggled to score goals this season. Xiong led a stingy defense that allowed only 13 goals in 13 non-conference games that produced only 4 wins.

Xiong was named 1st Team All-Conference for his efforts this season. As a junior, Xiong was a starting midfielder on a team that finished with 15 wins, the second most wins in school history. Xiong was also a member of the Green Bay Thunder club soccer team.

"Muachie is a quick and skillful defender who also has the ability to get into the attack," said Colwell.

"He reads the game very well which allows him to play either in the back or in the midfield," added Colwell.
