Former LMC Player Of The Year Carmelo Teran Named
Men's Soccer Assistant
June 10, 2004
Head Soccer Coach Marc Colwell has named former Lakeland soccer standout Carmelo
Teran the men's soccer assistant. Teran will replace Steve Vollmer who is now
working in the business sector.
Teran started at central midfield for Lakeland the last two seasons after transferring
from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay and had a major impact on the program.
He was named 1st Team All-Lake Michigan Conference each year and was honored
as the LMC Player of the Year this past season. Teran led the Muskies in assists
for the second consecutive season with five after tallying six the previous
season.
"Carmelo is one of the most talented central midfielders that I have ever
seen play at this level. He was justifiably honored as the league's top player
last year," Colwell said. "Carmelo's knowledge and understanding of
the game will make him equally as successful as a coach."
Teran, a native of Leon, Spain, graduated from Lakeland College in May with
a Spanish degree and an International Business minor. He is currently in Spain
teaching English classes. Teran will arrive on campus in early August to begin
his assistant coaching duties and start his work towards a Master's of Business
Administration.
