Lakeland Men Dominated By Tough UW-Whitewater Squad
Oct. 5, 2003

Sheboygan, WI - The Lakeland College Men's Soccer Team was defeated by the UW Whitewater Warhawks in a physical and defenseless 6-1 loss. The Muskies lone goal came off of a Scott Kress (Kiel) penalty kick in the 62nd minute.

Whitewater would get on the board early and often as Carl Refsell scored on an indirect kick as he was unmarked and allowed to walk through the 18 yard box unchallenged in the 12th minute.

Refsell would score again in the 22nd minute when he placed the ball out of reach of the Muskie keeper. Whitewater would go into the second half with a 2-0 lead. The Muskies hoped to step up their effort in the second half, but were unsuccessful as Whitewater would score four more goals.

Aaron Rowley would get the scoring started in the second half when he converted off of a Muskie defensive breakdown in the 50th minute. Dan Zwerling would score for the Warhawks in the 58th minute when he headed home a cross from a fellow Warhawk.

The Muskies would finally get on the board in the 62nd minute when Scott Kress (Kiel) earned himself a penalty kick, scoring his eight goal of the year. Kress was battered and bruised all game, but never let down.

The Warhawks would convert two more goals in the half to end the match at 6-1.

The Muskie men will be back in action Wednesday, October 8 at 4:00 pm when they face MSOE at home, in a highly anticipated conference match.
