Lakeland Soccer Players Succeed in the Classroom
August 20, 2003
The Lakeland College soccer program not only strives to succeed on the playing
field, but more importantly in the classroom as well. Headlining the programs
commitment to academics were nine men and six women who received the 2002-2003
Lakeland College-Scholar Athlete Award. The Scholar-Athlete Award is given to
student-athletes who achieve above a 3.25 grade point average during both semesters.
From the men's team; David Arrowood, Bashir Frank-Chipanda, Ryan Holl, Matthew Olson, David Radder, Timothy Romanello, Joseph Silverberg, and Carmelo Teran-Gonzalez achieved this academic honor.
The women's soccer team proved they can perform at the highest level both in and out of the classroom. The 2002 Lake Michigan Conference champions were represented by Amy Freier, Amy Herzfeldt, Briana Plautz, Nicole Smith, Susan Webb, and Rachael Williams.
