Lakeland Men's Soccer Dominates in 3-0 Victory
Sept. 7, 2003
Sheboygan, WI - On a hot day at Muskie field the Lakeland Men's Soccer team
controlled the match from start to finish in a 3-0 victory over the Spartans
of Aurora University Sunday afternoon.
The Muskies got off to a quick start when freshman Scott Kress (Kiel) buried a brilliant through ball in the lower-left corner from Carmelo Teran (Leon, Spain) in the 4th minute.
Kress and Teran weren't finished when they connected again in the 25th minute, with Kress scored his second goal of the match.
In the 34th minute, Teran recorded his 3rd assist of the match when freshman Dave Meister (Plymouth, IN) scored his first collegiate goal tucking the ball in the lower-right corner past the Spartan keeper.
The Muskies kept the pressure, but were unable to find the net in the second half. Consistent possession rewarded the Muskies with their second victory of the season and evened their record to 2-2.
Senior goalkeeper Adam Sherwood (Green Bay) earned a shutout in his first collegiate start in goal.
The Lakeland men will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Portland, Oregon to take on Linfield College on Friday at 4:30pm (PST). The Muskies men follow-up with a match against Willamette College on Sunday at 1:00 pm PST.
