TWO SOCCER RECRUITS PLAY IN
HIGH SCHOOL ALL-STAR GAME
July 28, 2003
Lakeland College Men's Soccer recruits Tyler
Opichka (Green Bay) and Trey Summers (Franklin) participated in the 2003 Wisconsin
All Star Senior High School game this past weekend at the Bavarian Soccer Complex
near Milwaukee.
Opichka started at center midfield for the Blue Team while Summers came off
the bench and played a vital role in the Gold team's 4-3 comeback win. With
the gold team down 3-2 late in the 2nd half, Summers bent in a corner kick to
the near post past the defensive player on the same post and the goalkeeper.
Opichka and Summers were nominated by their high school coaches and were selected
for their respective teams out of a pool of over 225 high schools.
Lakeland Head Soccer Coach Marc Colwell was in attendance at the game and was
impressed with what he saw from the two incoming freshmen.
"Tyler demonstrated that he can handle playing in the middle of the pitch
against some very tough competition," said Colwell.
"Trey showed his versatility by playing both outside midfield and outside
back," added the Muskies skipper.
