Lakeland College head soccer coach
Marc Colwell announced the hiring of Lakeland alum Steve Vollmer as the new
mens assistant coach. Vollmer begins his duties at Lakeland on August
11th. He replaces Ryan Anatol who was just named assistant coaching at the University
of Akron, a NCAA Division I
program.
Vollmer will be responsible for assisting in team practice, recruiting, academics, team travel, and fundraising. He joins a staff that includes 2nd year assistant coach Julie Loppacher who helped guide the womens team to their first-ever Lake Michigan Conference regular season and tournament championships.
Vollmer was named 1st team All-LMC the last two seasons and served as team captain in 2001 and 2002. He was also a member of the Wisconsin Rebels of the Premier Development League this summer in Appleton, WI.
"I am very excited to have a coach join our staff that is familiar with the school and program," Colwell said. "Steve probably knows more about Lakeland College than most people on campus. It should be a seamless transition for him to move over from being a team leader to a coach.
Vollmer is a 2003 graduate of Lakeland College with a degree in Business and Marketing. He will pursue a Masters of Business Administration through the Lakeland College graduate program.
