Chad Schreiber
Head Coach

Chad Schreiber is in his 15th year with Lakeland College. Currently, he serves as the head coach for both the women's and men's volleyball programs and as an assistant athletic director. Additionally, he serves on the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Advisory Board, is the Northeast Rep on the Badger Region Board, club director for Go Fish VBC, and advisor to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He formerly served as the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Chair and the NCAA Midwest Regional Chair.

Earlier this year, Schreiber was named the High Performance director for boys' volleyball in USA volleyball's Badger Region. As a regional director, Schreiber is the Badger Region boys youth national team head coach. The team is made up of 16-, 17- and 18-year-old boys from the state of Wisconsin.

In addition, Schreiber is one of only 21 NCAA women's volleyball coaches, and one of just nine at the Division III level, under the age of 40 with at least 250 career wins.

In 2008, Schreiber guided the women’s team to its second straight Northern Athletics Conference regular season championship and conference tournament title, as well as the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Muskies posted a 25-11 overall record, its ninth 20-win season in the past 10 years, and notched a perfect 12-0 record in league play. Schreiber was awarded the 2008 NAC Coach of the Year, his second consecutive coach of the year honor. In the spring of 2009, Schreiber led the men’s club program to the semifinals at the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association’s National Campus Championship Series National Championships in Kansas City, Mo. They finished the season 42-10 overall after winning the program's first national championship in 2008.

Upon arriving at Lakeland, Coach Schreiber turned a 4-22 women's volleyball program into a perennial winner, and established the college's first men's club volleyball team a year later. For his efforts, Schreiber was named the women's Lake Michigan Conference Coach of the Year in three consecutive seasons from 2001-2003. He was also chosen to coach the 2003 Wisconsin Volleyball Conference All-Star Team and remains an active player in the USA Adult Open.

The women's volleyball program’s steady climb was capped in 2001 with its first Lake Michigan Conference championship since 1986. In addition, Lakeland made its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance in 2002 with an impressive 32-5 mark. Furthermore, the Muskies finished 12-0 in 2002, and became the first team in conference history to win every game of each conference match. Overall, the program won five consecutive LMC titles from 2001-2005, made four straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 2002-2005 and has won the National Team Award for Academic Excellence five times.

Schreiber has also guided the men's club volleyball team to national prominence by winning conference and state championships in the program's second year. With 11 consecutive seasons ranked in the Top 25, including nine Top 10 finishes, the Muskies are one of the most recognized and respected club teams in the country. Lakeland finished as the national runner-up in 2003 and 2007 before taking the national title in 2008. Schreiber garnered National Coach of the Year honors in 2007.

Prior to Lakeland, Schreiber coached collegiately as an assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan in 1990 and 1991. In 1991, the team won the state junior college championship. From 1993-1995 he served at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh as assistant coach for women's volleyball, and head coach for men's club volleyball from 1994-1995. The women's team placed second in the 1994 NCAA Championships, and the men finished 1994 ranked ninth nationally. Schreiber also was an all-conference setter as a player. Other coaching experience includes the Lakeland Attack Volleyball Club and extensive summer camp experiences.

A Sheboygan Falls native, Schreiber currently resides in Plymouth with wife, Stephanie, daughter Logan (9) and twins Cameron and Carter (6). He graduated in 1995 from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a bachelor’s in sports management and a business minor. In 1999 he received his master's of education degree from Lakeland.

Shawn Voelz
Assistant Coach

Shawn Voelz, a native from Elk Grove, Ill., begins his first season as the men’s volleyball graduate assistant coach at Lakeland.

Voelz, who is entering his first season as a coach, has been a part of the Lakeland men’s volleyball team for the past four years.

A three-year captain, Voelz was also Lakeland’s starting libero for the past two seasons. He was a key contributor in the team’s past two national tournament appearances. Voelz helped lead the Muskies to a Division I title at the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association National Championships at Dallas, Texas, in 2008. He also played an integral role in the team’s runner-up finish at the national tournament in 2007 at Louisville, Ky.

Voelz will graduate from Lakeland this fall with a double major in business management and marketing.

 

Jon Weir
Assistant Coach

Jon Weir comes to Lakeland men's volleyball for his first year on staff as assistant coach.

Having played collegiate volleyball at UW-Oshkosh in 2001 and 2002, Weir took his playing experience with him to the coaching world. Weir was the varsity head coach at New Holstein High School in 2008. Prior to that position, he had served as the varsity assistant at New Holstein from 2002- 2005 and freshmen coach from 2006-2007.

Weir graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a degree in radio/TV/film and is a self-employed videographer.
