his second year as men's volleyball graduate assistant coach.
As a player and captain on the 2006 men's volleyball squad
at Lakeland, he helped his team finish ninth in the nation at
the NIRSA National Tournament. Smolinski also helped lead the

earned him the Lakeland "Big Fish" award three times.
The award is given annually to the person who best exemplifies
what a player should be in mind, body and spirit.
Mike has also served as an assistant coach for the women's
volleyball program at Lakeland for the past two seasons, helping
the squad reach the first round of the NCAA DIII playoffs and
earn their fifth-straight LMC first place finish in 2005. Smolinski
has also helped Lakeland head coach Chad Schreiber with a number
of volleyball camps in recent years.
Mike graduated in May of 2005 with Bachelor's degrees in sports
management and business administration. He is working toward
his master's in counseling. Mike is originally from Menasha
and currently resides in Howards Grove.
