Tournament Notes:
The Division I tournament is the top 48 programs in the country regardless of
size.
This was Lakeland's first season competing as a Division I program.
Lakeland is the smallest school to compete in Division I.
Lakeland finished 2nd in Division II last season.
The WVC placed 6 teams in the top 25 of their respective divisions.
3 starters sat out the Minnesota match for various reasons.
Chris Gornik was limited to one match on the weekend with a sprained ankle.
Quote from Coach Schreiber:
"Losing to Cal in the tie-breaker game was the defining match of the weekend.
A win in that game would have meant a top 10 finish. It was our sixth consecutive
game without a break and we did not have enough left to beat them again. Our
scores indicate how much parity there is this year, and how close we were to
everyone. Most of all I'm glad we proved we belong. Adam Plach deserves special
mention for filling Chris's shoes with an intense level of play that allowed
us to finish how we did. It was a year of ups and downs that ended with a weekend
of ups and downs."
