Jan. 28, 2004

Seizing opportunities is a must when winning games. The Lakeland College Women's Basketball Team exactly that by hitting 22 of 33 free throws on their way to a 71-62 victory over Concordia.

Kristi Thill scored a team-high 18 points, while Aubri Rote scored 17 for the Muskies. Renee Steinert tallied 15 points and shined the glass for an outstanding 18 rebounds. Karli Nichols also pitched in with 10 points.

The play of these four overshadowed the great games of Concordia's JQ Stewart (20 points and 10 rebounds) and Leah Buyarski (17 points and 14 boards).

The Muskies, who were up by just two at the half, shot 43.4 percent from the field in the second half to sink the visiting Falcons.

The win improved Lakeland's conference record to 7-0 and their overall record to 14-5.
