Women's Hoops Drops First Round Tournament Game To Buena Vista

The Lakeland College Women's Basketball Team Traveled to UW-Eau Claire for a Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately, the Muskies got off on the wrong foot with a 67-45 loss to Buena Vista (IA) Friday evening. Lakeland (2-2 overall) will now play the host school, who fell to Morningside College in the late game.

Buena Vista (2-0) and Lakeland battled in the first half that ended with the Muskies trailing 24-18. But the second half belonged to Buena Vista as they outscored Lakeland 43-27.

Lakeland had an off shooting night connecting on just 18 of 61 shots (29.5%) and just 3 of 13 (23.1%) three's. They also managed to get to the line just 7 times while Buena Vista had 17 attempts. The Muskies also committed 23 turnovers compared to BV's 15.

Beth Porter led the scoring attack for Lakeland with 12 points and added 7 rebounds. Jenny Boehm was the only other Muskie in double figures with 10 points in 19 minutes. Renee Steinert had a whopping 17 rebounds.

Lakeland will play UW-Eau Claire tomorrow evening in the consolation game at 6pm.
