Head Soccer Coach Marc Colwell announced that Kelly Hopfinger has committed to play women's soccer at Lakeland College in the fall of 2004.

Hopfinger who is a midfielder from Hustisford, Wisconsin, attends Hustisford High School. She has been a unanimous three-time all conference selection and should warrant selection again this spring. Hopfinger scored 9 goals and added 12 assists during her sophomore season and was named team offensive MVP. As a junior, Hopfinger tallied 7 goals and 12 assists.

It's a family affair on the Hustisford high school team. Kelly's sister Jessica is a sophomore on the team. The head coach is Otto Hopfinger, Kelly and Jessica's dad.

"Kelly is a fast and athletic midfielder that has the ability to step in and help us right away," said Colwell. "Her strength right now is more of a defensive oriented player because of her speed and aggressiveness. Once she adapts her game to the speed of play and style of college game, she has the potential to be a very good player for Lakeland."

Hopfinger is very active in other high school activities including managing the boy's basketball team and being a member of student council. She has been named to the National Honor Society every year, and was the Homecoming Queen this fall. She also received the Hustisford High School Good Citizenship Award for 2004. Kelly plays club soccer for Hustisford Select.
