Women's Soccer Repeats As Conference Champs!

Fond du Lac, WI- The Lakeland College Women's Soccer Team won their second consecutive
Lake Michigan Conference with a convincing 4-0 victory over Marian College.
With the win, the Muskies finished their LMC campaign with a 5-1 record and
are currently 9-10 overall.
Junior forward Amanda Smith (Neenah) got the Muskies on the board in the 12th minute when she blasted home a rebound for her 27th goal of the season.
In the 21st minute, Briana Plautz (Green Bay) bent a direct free kick which hit off the inside right goal post and into the opposite corner for a 2-0 Muskie lead. Just 3 minutes later, Smith would tally her 28th goal on an assist from senior forward Amy Freier (Sheboygan).
The Muskies would finalize the scoring at 4-0 in the 40th minute on a great combination of passes from Amanda Smith and Lorine Weiss which ended up with an Amy Herzfeldt (Appleton) goal - her 11th of the season.
The Lakeland women played solid team defense holding Marian College to zero shots on the night. Freshman goalkeeper Alli Weiss (New Berlin) went untested as she picked up her sixth shutout of the season. The Muskie attack held a significant statistical advantage as they took 29 shots and had 5 corners for the game.
The Muskies are now preparing for the Lake Michigan Conference tournament.
They will receive a bye in the first round (slated for November 1st) and will
be in action next Wednesday, November 5th at 2pm with the opponent yet to be
decided. The game will be played at Muskie Field on the Lakeland College campus.
