Draeger Named Female Athlete Of The Year

Monica Draeger, a senior from Lake Mills, WI (Lakeside Lutheran HS) was named Lakeland's Female Athlete of the Year.

Draeger completed her career at Lakeland with her best season ever. As a captain, she led her team to a third straight conference championship and a second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Draeger was recognized regionally and nationally. She was named to the all region team and was honored with an All-American Honorable Mention selection. She made it into the NCAA Division III record books this year with the 5th highest hitting percentage in a match (.826) against MSOE and a career hitting percentage of .367, which puts her at 23rd.

In the conference this season, Draeger was first in hitting percentage for .453, fourth in kills/game with 3.84 and third in blocks/game with 1.32. She was recognized as player of the week 5 times and was also named the Lake Michigan Conference Player of the Year.

You can't go through the school records without finding Draeger's name multiple times. This season alone, she broke the match record for hitting percentage with the spectacular .826 effort against MSOE. She is second in kills/season at 436, fourth in blocks/season with 119 and third in kills/game at 3.52. For her career, she holds the blocks record at 437 and the hitting percentage record at .366.
