Volleyball Receives All-LMC Honors

The Lake Michigan Conference recently announced the All-LMC Teams for Women's Volleyball. Lakeland led the way with 5 members named to the various teams, and also had senior Monica Draeger selected as Player of the Year and coach Chad Schreiber nominated as Coach of the Year.

The teams are chosen by the conference head coaches who all have an equal vote. For a complete list of awards go to the conference webpage at www.lakemichigan.org.

The Muskies had Draeger, senior Melissa Braaksma, junior Theresa Ertler and sophomore Lana Neuman named to the All-LMC's 1st Team. Senior Amy Lieske was named Honorable Mention All-LMC while Lakeland did not have anyone named to the All-Rookie Team.

Draeger led the LMC in hitting percentage with .453, was 3rd in blocks per game at 1.32, and had 3.84 kills per game. Braaksma led the conference in blocks with 1.84 per game, was 3rd in hitting percentage at .372, and 9th in kills at 3.14 per game. Ertler had 3.24 kills (8th) per game and .47 aces a game (4th). Rounding out the All-LMC 1st Team was Neuman who led the LMC with 13.49 assists per game, and also had .65 blocks a game as well.

This was the third straight year that Schreiber was selected as the Coach of the Year. Lakeland finished 21-16 overall and 12-0 in the LMC, good for their third straight conference title. The Muskies also earned their second straight NCAA bid by winning the LMC end-of-season conference tournament.
