Womens Volleyball Coaches
Chad Schreiber
Head Coach
Chad Schreiber is in his 13th year with Lakeland College. Currently,
he serves as the head coach for both the women's and men's volleyball
programs.
Upon arriving at Lakeland, Coach Schreiber turned
a 4-22 women's volleyball program into a perennial winner, and established
the college's first men's club volleyball team a year later. Due to his
efforts, Schreiber has been named the Women's Lake Michigan Conference
Coach of the Year the past two seasons. He was also chosen to coach the
2003 Wisconsin Volleyball Conference All-Star Team at USAV Nationals for
the men.
The women's volleyball program's steady climb was capped with
back-to-back Lake Michigan Conference Championships in 2001
and 2002, the Muskies first since 1986. In addition Lakeland
made their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance in 2002 with
an impressive 32-5 mark. Furthermore, the Muskies finished 12-0
in 2002, and became the first team in conference history to
win every game of every conference match. The program has made
three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, had 7 consecutive
20-win seasons, and has won the National Team Award for Academic
Excellence four times.
Schreiber has also guided the men's club volleyball team to
national prominence by winning conference and state championships
in the program's second year. Six straight Top 25 national ranking
seasons, including four straight Top 10 finishes, have the Muskies
as one of the most recognized club teams in the country. The
Muskies had their highest finishes in 2003 and 2007, finishing
as national runner-up at the national championships.
Prior to Lakeland, Schreiber coached collegiately
as an assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan in 1990 and 1991.
In 1991, the team won the state junior college championship. From 1993-1995
he served at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh as assistant coach for
women's volleyball, and head coach for men's club volleyball from 1994-1995.
The women's team placed second in the 1994 NCAA Championships, and the
men finished 1994 ranked 9th nationally. Schreiber also was an All-Conference
setter for the men's program. Other coaching experience includes the Lakeland
Attack Volleyball Club and extensive summer camp experiences.
A Sheboygan Falls native, Schreiber currently resides in Plymouth
with wife Stephanie, daughter Logan (6) and twins Cameron and
Carter (3). He graduated in 1995 from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh
with a sports management major and business minor. In 1999 he
received his master's of education degree from Lakeland College.

Sarah Dehring
Assistant Coach
Dehring begins her first season as a graduate assistant coach with the Lakeland volleyball staff.
As member of the women's volleyball team at Division II powerhouse Ferris State University (Mich.),
from 1999-2001, the former defensive specialist brings both on-court and coaching experience to the
Muskies. Due to various injuries throughout her collegiate career, the Mackinac Island, Mich., native
became an assistant coach for the Bulldogs during her last two years at Ferris State, helping lead the
team to an NCAA Region Quarterfinal berth in 2002.
Dehring also had a successful playing career at Mackinac Island High School, helping the team to four
league championships. She garnered All-Northern Lights Conference selections each of her four years and
was voted the team's Most Valuable Player three times.
After completing her bachelor's degree in elementary education at Ferris State in 2004,
Dehring returned to her high school alma mater to serve as head volleyball coach and head
track coach for the 2006-2007 school year. She then coached Lakers' volleyball team to their
first district finals since her senior season.
She has also worked as an elementary school teacher at Salida Del Sol Elementary School in
Yuma, Ariz., working with second graders. She was an assistant volleyball coach for Arizona
Western College, helping coach the team to a regional championship.
Dehring is working toward her master's of arts degree in counseling.
John Staabs
Assistant Coach
Jon Staabs enters his third season as assistant women's volleyball
coach. An avid player for the past six years, Staabs was freshman
volleyball coach at Plymouth High School in 2005 and assistant
coach in 2006 for the Sheboygan Falls Volleyball Club 15’s.
The UW-Whitewater graduate has been a team leader in shipping
and receiving at Kohler Co. since 1999.
Joe Julkowski
Student Assistant Coach
Joe Julkowski enters his first season as a student assistant with the Muskies.
A starter on Lakeland's men's volleyball team that finished as the runner-up at
the 2007 NIRSA National Tournament, Joe brings plenty of court savvy to the women's
team.
Although he is only a junior, the outside hitter has already made his mark
on Lakeland's record books with his expert serving, as he is first in service
aces in a match with eight against UW-Oshkosh in 2006, first and second in aces
in a season with 59 in 2006 and 41 in 2007, and fourth in career aces with 100
total. He also finished third on the team in kills and digs last year with 307
and 229, respectively.
Joe hails from Carol Stream, Ill., and is majoring in criminal justice at
Lakeland.
