David R. Simon Jr. comes to Lakeland College by way of Detroit, Mich. where he was born and raised and has accumulated over 13 years of experience in law enforcement, corporate security and private security. His career direction started here at Lakeland College where he worked campus security his junior and senior years as well as completing an internship with the U.S. Marshals before graduating with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Anthropology in 1999. David attended Lakeland College under the name Maurice DeAngelo Finley and after graduating changed his name to David Ray Simon Jr. to be named after his stepfather David Ray Simon Sr., who he attributes his integrity, drive, and success in life. The Lakeland College community still refers to David as "Big Moe" a name he earned while playing football for the Muskies and was part of the success of the undefeated 1997 season. David brings to the Lakeland College community traditional family values as well as the professional training and experience he has gained in his 13 years in the law enforcement and security field. David has two beautiful daughters Ty'erra & Ty'Jah Simon who he credits as his continuous motivation. David is currently pursuing his MBA in Project Management.
