Director of Counseling Program
Deborah Bilzing, a nationally certified counselor, has been with Lakeland since 2004. She was an adjunct instructor for Lakeland before taking over the Master of Arts in Counseling program in 2010.
She holds an Ed.D. in educational leadership and administration from Edgewood College (Madison, Wis.), a master’s in guidance and counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and a bachelor’s in physical education/health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction licenses as a superintendent, director of special education and pupil services, principal, school counselor and director of instruction.
Prior to joining Lakeland, Bilzing worked as an administration consultant and project director at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. She has also been an adjunct professor at Concordia University.
Bilzing currently serves as the professional liaison and president-elect to the Wisconsin Counseling Association.
Her areas of interests include school counselor education, ethics and law, qualitative research, clinical instruction and supervision, social justice and trauma and grief.
