Director of ARC:

Paul White is the Director of the Hayssen Academic Resource Center, a native of New Orleans, LA, Paul spent several years in the Detroit Area, graduating from Bloomfield Hills Andover High School. He attended Stephen F. Austin State University occasionally, but not frequently enough. After a long hiatus from higher education, Paul completed his bachelor's and master's degrees at Northern Michigan University, in Marquette, Michigan, the heart of the Upper Peninsula. While a student at NMU, majoring in writing, Paul worked as a University Writing Fellow and as a Writing Center Tutor. After graduating from NMU, Paul was hired as the Assistant Dean of Students there.

Among his responsibilities were the directing the operation of the All Campus Tutoring Center, coordinating the Freshman Studies Program (an academic and advising support program for underprepared students), and acting as the University's Academic Proficiency Officer. Paul left Marquette and NMU in 1999 to join his wife, Kari, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where Kari served as Coordinator of Employer Services for Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne. Paul entered the doctoral program in Higher Education Administration at Bowling Green State University, where he is now a candidate for the degree.

Paul joined the Lakeland College community in November 2001. In addition to directing the HARC, Paul serves as the College's coordinator of ADA services for students, and he teaches in the General Studies Division.

Assistant Director of ARC:

Tim Fojtik is the Assistant Director of the Hayssen Academic Resource Center & English Language Institute, he started working at Lakeland in September of 2006. He has worked at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and Prairie State College near Chicago. He has also taught English in Poland and Slovakia.

He has a BA from the University of Minnesota and a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speaker of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Tim is originally from Cudahy, Wisconsin, a suburb south of Milwaukee and married with two children.
