Lakeland Food & Dining Services
One of the most popular questions admissions counselors
hear is, "What's the food like?" Well, here at Lakeland, we
can proudly boast excellent food and a friendly, casual atmosphere. Food
preparation is overseen by our Food Service Director, who was originally
a professional chef from a five-diamond area resort prior to joining the
Lakeland team.
Meals are served buffet style and features a number
of selected entrees for each meal. Fruit and desserts are also available.
During lunch and dinner, salad and sandwich bars are included in your
meal price and provide some great alternative choices.
If a traditional, sit-down meal is not to your liking,
the Muskie Grill features grilled sandwiches and french fries as well
as other "fast food" options. Some grocery items can also be
purchased in the Muskie Mart, even when the dining room is not open.
Starting in January 2004, Lakeland is launching "The
Daily Grind," a new espresso bar featuring gourmet coffees, desserts
and breakfast items. Cappucinos, lattes and all your other favorite coffee
beverages will be available for purchase. The Daily Grind will be located
on the main floor of the Younger Family Campus Center in an area previously
called the Fireside Lounge. Be sure to check it out!!
The college food service facilities are located on the second floor of
the Campus Center. Food service provides meals for all resident students
holding valid Lakeland College Campus Cards. (LAKELAND COLLEGE CAMPUS
CARDS ARE REQUIRED AT EVERY MEAL.) If you do not have your Campus Card
with you, you will be asked to present one before you will be allowed
to eat.
All commuter athletes that are authorized to have a
meal must also have a Lakeland College Campus Card to eat in the dining
room. Commuter students may purchase meals in either the Muskie Mart or
the regular food service line. Discount meal tickets are available in
the Business Office. Visitors and guests of resident students may purchase
their meal when eating in the college dining hall. Resident students who
"share" food with a non-resident will be charged for the guest
meal and referred to the Dean of Students for disciplinary action.
Limited food service will be available during Thanksgiving,
Christmas, and Spring Breaks. Meals during breaks are not included in
the board plan cost, therefore a nominal fee will be charged. Food must
be eaten in the dining room. Food service hours are posted in the Campus
Center. Students will be notified in advance of any changes in the regular
food service hours. The daily menu is available by dialing x1415.
Food Plan Exemption Policy
No exemptions from participation in the College Food Plan will be granted
to resident students. The College is working with a licensed dietitian
to accommodate special dietary needs.
