Lakeland's education program OK'd by DPI
Academics - posted on 9/28/2006
Lakeland College's education division programming has been re-approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Lakeland's programming is subject to approval every five years by DPI, according to state law. The approval covers Lakeland's education degrees that lead to teacher licensure.
State Superintendent Elizabeth Burmaster commended Lakeland for its continuing implementation of the Wisconsin Quality Educator Initiative. "Through your active and continuous alignment of your programs with the institutional and program standards for educator preparation, you assure that every candidate who completes your programs is highly qualified in their chosen profession," Burmaster said.
In addition, DPI approved a new Lakeland science teaching minor with a focus on life science at the middle childhood/early adolescence level.
