American Humanics students plan annual fundraiser

Academics - posted on 3/6/2007

The Lakeland College American Humanics Student Association will hold its fifth annual wine and cheese silent auction on Friday, April 20.

The annual fundraiser will be in Lakeland's David & Valerie Black Room in the Laun Center on Lakeland's Sheboygan County campus from 6-9 p.m. The cost is $25 per person or $35 per couple.

The wine and cheese event raises money for Lakeland students enrolled in the college's nonprofit organization management program for a variety of events, including travel to and participation in the national AHSA gathering. Lakeland's curriculum allows students to earn the nationally recognized American Humanics Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership. A total of 10 percent of the money raised also supports orphans attending schools in Malawi, Africa.

Students in this major are preparing for careers in management and other roles with a variety of non-profit organizations including American Red Cross, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, Junior Achievement, United Way of America and the YMCA.

To register for the event, contact Don Francis at Lakeland at francisd@lakeland.edu or (920) 565-1282.
