Depending on the Weather

Fields around campus have been harvested and plowed. I've resorted to wearing thermal underwear, i.e. long-johns, longies, thermals, etc, underneath my khakis. Yes, it is cold once again. And I say this being fully aware of the potential to further stereotype the location of Lakeland College as being in a remote, Borean-Tundra type of environment. This is not the case. In fact, election Tuesday brought local temperatures to nearly eighty degrees! Later in the week, on Saturday, conveniently during open house, we had a minute amout of snowfall. Mmmmm....I must be a glutton for unpredictability.

One bonus is that at this time of the year, I'm in my cozy little office most of the day. I should've appealed for this long ago via LC blog, if anyone has anything interesting and non-offensive that I could hang on my office walls, that would be great. Right now on the west wall, which is white, I have a small white board, some thank you notes from students, a couple of jokes, and some college calendars and events. On the east wall, also white, I have a poster of the 2008 Muskie Football Schedule. Season's over. Poster should come down if I am to stay hip with the times.

The north wall is white, and bare, save for two eye hooks that still remain in place where a tackboard once hung. They don't let us admissions-type use hammers (they limit us to keyboards and coffee), and I haven't gotten around to calling someone from our maintenance department. The south wall, which for some reason is painted baby blue, is home to a map of Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, and a really old gold-framed painting from a thrift store. There's way too much blue in the painting. Or maybe that's just the wall.

Anyway, I need stuff for my office. Thoughts? Suggestions? Email me.
