General - posted on 8/24/2012

On Friday, Wisconsin Congressman Tom Petri visited Lakeland College to present the college with a plaque displaying framed remarks by Petri in the Congressional Record from June 21 that honored the college for its 150th anniversary

Petri has been a good friend and frequent visitor to the college. He delivered Lakeland's commencement address in 2002 and was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree. His most recent visit to campus was in November of 2010 as part of a tour of this area he organized for Japanese Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki, who spoke about the value of Lakeland's Japan campus.

Petri represents Wisconsin's 6th Congressional District and is serving his 17th term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was first elected in April 1979 and has been returned to office every two years since.
