Admission to M.A.T. Courses and the Degree Program
New Students
In order to take a course for graduate credit, a student must:
- have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- submit an official transcript of all course work from bachelor's degree and any postgraduate work.
General Admission Requirements
Applicants can register for one graduate course prior to being formally admitted to the M.A.T. program. Registration in subsequent courses is contingent upon acceptance into the program. In order to be considered for acceptance into the program, the applicant must submit:
- An official transcript from an accredited institution of higher education indicating completion of a baccalaureate degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 on a 4.00 point scale.
- Two letters of recommendation indicating the applicant's potential for success in the graduate program.
- An application for admission and $50 application fee
- International students must also submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores. The minimum TOEFL score for graduate admission is 550 for the paper-based, and 213 for the computer-based tests.
Transfer Students
The transfer of credits from another accredited graduate program in theology or religion will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, but every effort will be made to match the courses a student wishes to transfer with Lakeland's M.A.T degree requirements. Students may transfer a total of nine credits into Lakeland's M.A.T. program. In order for courses to be considered for transfer credit:
- Students must provide official transcripts indicating the satisfactory completion of the courses.
- The courses must have been taken within the ten (10) years prior to application to the graduate program.
Transfer students must apply to the program prior to registering for a second Lakeland course. In order to be considered for acceptance into the program, the applicant must submit:
